Computer Software

• The computer algebra software MAPLE will be used throughout the course.

Course Content

• Error and Error analysis:
  Representation of numbers; error propagation and error estimation
  
• Solution of nonlinear equations
  Bisection and Secant methods, Newton's method; Fixed point iteration and acceleration.
  
• System of linear equations:
  Elimination, Factorization, Pivoting, and Iterative methods.
  
• Interpolation and Approximation:
  Polynomial interpolation, Lagrange polynomial, Spline interpolation.
  
• Differentiation and Integration:
  Numerical differentiation, Romberg integration, Gaussian quadrature.
  
• Initial Value Problems:
  Eulers method, Runge-Kutta method, Convergence and Stability, Stiff Equations.
