Vector geometry, curves and surfaces in three dimensions, partial differentiation, multiple integrals, vector calculus and related applications.
3 lectures weekly: Tuesday 11:30-12:20 in EC LH, Wednesday 8:30-9:20 in OC 208, and Thursday 8:30-9:20 in CC CC.
1 tutorial weekly: Tueday 2:30-3:20 in OC 128 or Friday 11:30-12:20 in CC A2.
While attendance is not compulsory, students will be responsible for any material covered during lectures and tutorials.
Class cancellations
In the event of a class cancellation, you will be notified as soon as possible by email. In addition, every effort will be made to also post a notice at the classroom.
- 4 tests @ 10% each = 40%, held in the Tuesday lectures on October 19, November 30, February 8 & March 28.
- 3 assignments @ 10% each = 30%, due on November 11, January 20 & March 9.
- final exam = 30%.
If it is to the student's advantage and the instructor judges the student's term work to be complete, the final exam will count for 100%.
Calculators will be allowed during tests and the exam. Maple V software may be useful for assignments or for studying purposes. (The Department of Mathematics recommends the special on Maple V Release 5 (for Windows, Macintosh, and LINUX) presently available at the Trent University Bookstore.)
